Wow! Almost a year later!!

I am not good with keeping this up! I can try and be better but unfortunately no promises. I would love to post more often but it seems like life usually throws curveballs every time I try to make resolutions for myself. We'll see how I do this time. I thought it would be a nice gift to Dad to do this today, his birthday. He would have really liked to see the update. :-) And if he's not too busy chatting it up with Jesus maybe he is enjoying this now!

In the last year we were surprised by baby number three! Not only was the conception a surprise but the birth was also...in more ways than one. We waited on deciding on a name until baby was born. We also wanted to be surprised by the baby's gender. Then of course we couldn't stop there! We also ended up being surprised by the birth! Alexander Vincent Veik was born 20 minutes after my water broke! Obviously that didn't give us enough time to get to the hospital let alone out of the house! So Alexander was born in the living room with a bunch of firemen and EMTs. The video of him just after being born is below. It was a bit of a crazy day but the outcome was very good! We ended up with a very healthy...very cute baby boy and I was fine (once the ambulance ride was over...ouch was that painful right after giving birth!)

We were on the front page!

So now Don and I have three beautiful children! I am so happy to have been blessed with each of my children! Life with three under three is pretty tough but all I have to do to keep me going is look at their precious little faces and I realize that it is all worth it!

I love my babies!

These are the most recent pics I have of the kids. They are growing up so fast! Michelle is saying more words almost every day! She loves to "get cozy" with me and Don. She will bring a blanket to us so that we will wrap her in it. She loves to work on her shapes puzzle. She's very good at it! She also loves books! Samuel is teething already! He also decided that he's done nursing except at night. I guess it comes out of the bottle a lot faster! He is such a happy baby! He smiles all the time. It doesn't take much to get that crocked little grin :-)

Life with the twins

Allie and Madison are the 15 month old girls that I've been watching during the week. They are great kids! At first it was tough because they weren't happy about being at a new place every day. But they adjusted well and now they are testing the rules every day! LOL! They aren't allowed to climb on toys but just about everyday I walk into the play room and find that one of the girls has got herself stuck in one of Samuel's toys...either the jumper or the walker.
Michelle has so much fun when the girls are here. She is a little bossy (I would have never guessed that was possible!) and hasn't mastered the concept of sharing but overall I think she is a good friend to the girls. Samuel watches the girls play and I can tell that he wishes he could be running around with them. The girls parents think that they are fraternal twins because they were in seperate sacks while in the womb but there is a small possibility that they are identical. They look identical to me...Madison is just a little bigger than Allie. In these pics Allie is in the navy shirt and Madison is in the pink shirt.

Oops! (continued)

This video of Michelle kinda drags on but I just love to make her laugh so I get kinda carried away lol!

Oops!

Ok so I haven't been updating this like I said I would. Sorry. It seems like my life is like a roller coaster. Sometimes I'm zipping along and then there are times when things are calm but I know that there's another rush just ahead! I haven't been able to find the notes from Dad that I promised my family I would post here. I know they will turn up though! As soon as they do I'll post them!
I went to Nevada for Thanksgiving with Michelle and Samuel, Mom, her fiance Ray and Ray's son Nick. We had a full car. I think Ray and Nick were stressing a little because of the babies. They aren't used to the constant crying. :-)We all survived though. The trip back was the hardest because they were both tired of being in the car. The trip there went so much smoother than I would have ever imagined! They were both so good for the 17 hour car trip!! I am so lucky to have such great kids. I was just thinking a couple of nights ago while Don was reading Michelle a bedtime story that we are never going to have this time with her at this age ever again. I know that's kind of obvious, but it just hit me that I'm going to have Michelle as a child, then a teenager, then an adult and she will never be a baby again! I cried just thinking about how much I'm going to miss the 1 1/2 year old Michelle. Same goes for Samuel of course...I guess I probably just think about it more with my first born.
I made a couple of videos of the kids today. I'm going to put one here and one in a new post. I just want to make sure it works this time. I'll post again soon!

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Today is my dad's 50th birthday! I wish I could be celebrating it with him. I'm sure he's having much more fun where he's at though! We're going to have one of his favorite meals for dinner and then we're going to play a game. I'm sure he would have wanted us to have fun on his special day. I put together a collage of some of my favorite pictures of him. I hope you will enjoy looking through them. I can't believe how alive he still seems! Saturday will be a year and a half that he has been gone. It still feels like he is just on a long trip somewhere and he'll be home soon.
The last picture taken of Dad. It looks like he is pointing up to Heaven...just letting us know where he's heading I guess. :-)
